Vehicle Collisions in Hawaii

Oahu, HI - Injury Collision Leads to Oil-Slicked Section of I-H3

One of the reasons that traffic accidents in Hawaii can be so hard to deal with is that you or a family member might have sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash. You are probably struggling to juggle an endless amount of paperwork between multiple people and organizations, including your insurance company and their claims adjusters, your physician and other healthcare workers, the other driver’s car insurance company, along with anyone else involved in the collision.

Our Hawaii vehicle crash attorneys have decades of experience dealing with these organizations while providing dependable legal guidance to people who find themselves in this anxiety-inducing situation.

The two most common causes of vehicle crashes in Hawaii are:

Drivers Under the Influence: According to a news report out of Honolulu, Hawaii drivers have the highest number of auto accidents nationwide, per capita, due to drivers who are under the influence. In Hawaii, a personal injury attorney can help organize information from any current criminal proceedings to ensure that full financial compensation is awarded to those who deserve it.

A publication issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that this statistic is unlikely to change anytime soon. Even though fatalities caused by drunk drivers have decreased, they are likely to persist apace considering that a survey of drivers in Hawaii revealed that they are 50% more likely to make the decision to drive, even after knowingly consuming too much alcohol, when compared to the rest of the United States.

Speeding: Sadly, this same mindset also put Hawaii drivers at risk due to driving excessively fast. Another report cited by a local news outlet puts drivers from Hawaii in the top 10% when it comes to collisions resulting from vehicles being operated at unsafe speeds.

Both of these factors allow injured victims to benefit from the seasoned advice of a Hawaii personal injury lawyer. Your attorney will be able to obtain police records that will support your personal injury claim and increase your chances of receiving full economic recovery.

Distracted driving, reckless driving, and other irresponsible or unlawful behaviors behind the wheel are not as strongly associated with fatal collisions in Hawaii, although almost every car accident in the state stems from one of these four elements.
