Pedestrian Accidents in Hawaii
When an automobile strikes a pedestrian, the consequences are often catastrophic. The National Highway Traffic Safety Association reported that more than 5,000 pedestrians are killed and an additional 100,000 sustain injuries in car accidents every year.
Although a very small portion of pedestrian accidents are the result of drivers deliberately hitting pedestrians, the majority are caused by driver negligence. Common forms of which include:
- Driving too fast
- Driving under the influence
- Driving while distracted
- Disregarding traffic signals or signs
- Failing to observe crosswalks
- Failing to use turn indicators
- Failing to exercise proper precautions in inclement weather
- Failing to exercise proper precautions in areas where children are likely to be present
An experienced pedestrian accident attorney in Hawaii will be able to effectively identify all forms of negligence that contributed to your injuries.
It is essential to remember that if you, as a pedestrian, have even a small portion of the fault for your accident attributed to you, the driver that hit you may only be required to compensate you for some of your medical expenses.
Even if you share none of the fault, the driver’s insurance carrier will normally compensate nothing but your medical costs. This means that none of the additional expenses stemming from your accident, like missed income, diminished earning capacity, and pain and suffering will be covered. This is just one of the many reasons why we strongly urge you to seek the aggressive legal representation of a personal injury attorney from Leavitt, Yamane & Soldner.
A skilled pedestrian accident attorney in Hawaii will make sure that you get all the compensation you deserve, not just what the insurance company decides is fair. With proper compensation, you can take care of yourself and your family and move on with your life.
