Traffic Accidents in Hawaii

Honolulu, HI - Two-Vehicle Accident With Injuries on Kalaniana'ole Hwy

Although it is true that, once in a great while, no one is to blame, an overwhelming number of serious car accidents are caused by negligent actions on the part of one or both drivers. The state of Hawaii abides by no-fault car insurance laws. This means that generally speaking, injured parties will have to file a claim with their own insurance company for repayment of their medical costs no matter how the accident happened.

Some motor vehicle collisions are caused by a single outside influence over which neither driver has control. It is much more common, however, for auto accidents to be the end result of many different factors that culminate into a single, terrible event.

Some common forms of negligence that result in serious auto collisions include:

  • Inattentive drivers, such as those reading text messages and making telephone calls
  • Drives who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Drivers who are aggressive or reckless
  • Vehicles that are poorly maintained
  • Roadways and intersections that are badly designed

These and numerous other forms of negligence put thousands of innocent people in harm’s way each and every day, including joggers, bicyclists, pedestrians, children, and even other motorists and their passengers.
