John Yamane Explains Social Host Liability
In Hawaii, we do not have a social host liability. For example, if a person who leaves a party goes and causes an accident, the person that threw the party, under Hawaii law, is not responsible for the actions of that drunk driver. The exception, however, is if the person that gets drunk was a minor. Under those circumstances, the person who threw the party, the social host, would be responsible for the actions of the minor.
