Some of the recent trends I think we’ve seen are more and more DUI accidents and a lot of pedestrian accidents, especially involving the elderly and young kids. We see a lot of people getting hurt when corporations decide to put their own profits ahead of the safety of the public. Something that we’ve also seen is that the police do seem to be charging more people for negligent injury criminally for what some would consider pretty routine car crashes. Because the problem becomes: there is a car accident, somebody is hurt, and then its just turned over to the insurance company, and the person who caused the accident doesn’t end up paying much of a price. There’s no deterrents to them doing that again in the future. So, we’ve seen the police start stepping in more and more and charging people criminally. I think that’s a recognition of just how bad, and just how dangerous, Hawaii’s roads have become.
