Toyota Recalls - Are you affected?
For months, speculation of imminent recalls by Toyota have circulated amongst the press. Initially it was made public that floor mats got in the way of accelerators, sometimes causing a vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly. Eventually it became known that this problem was not solely caused by inconveniently placed floor mats, but also sticking accelerator pedals. More recently other types of manufacturer defects have arisen across Toyota's lineup -- break problems have surfaced in Toyota's flagship hybrid, the Prius, leading to a voluntary recall of the vehicles, and there has been further speculation as to defects in Toyota's electronic throttle control system. Since the recent plague of recalls and alleged defects, Toyota has setup a comprehensive site detailing the recalls and ways to find out if your vehicle has been affected (see: www.toyota.com/recall/).
Toyota has listed the following vehicles as being part of their recalls:
- 2005 - 2010 Avalon: Floor Mat/Accelerator Pedal Recall
- 2007 - 2010 Camry: Floor Mat/Accelerator Pedal Recall, except hybrid models
- 2009 - 2010 Corolla: Floor Mat/Accelerator Pedal Recall, except VINs beginning with "J"
- 2008 - 2010 Highlander: Floor Mat/Accelerator Pedal Recall, except hybrid models
- 2009 - 2010 Matrix: Floor Mat/Accelerator Pedal Recall
- 2004 - 2009 Prius: Floor Mat Recall
- 2010 Prius: Voluntary anti-lock brake system recall
- 2009 - 2010 RAV4: Accelerator Pedal Recall
- 2008 - 2010 Sequoia: Accelerator Pedal Recall
- 2005 - 2010 Tacoma: Floor Mat Recall
- 2007 - 2010 Tundra: Floor Mat Recall
