Honolulu Police Department Posts Pictures of DUI Arrestees

December 03, 2009 @ 08:10 AM — by Reece Frazier

In an effort to eliminate drunk driving, the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) has launched a website which will display names, pictures, and alleged charges which individuals, which have been cited for OVUII, face.  OVUII is Hawaii's official charge for drunk driving (Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants).  The website will be populated every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., containing last week's alleged offenders.  The information is reported to remain posted for 24 hours, at which time it will be removed from the website.  HPD's website it currently part of a six month trial period, at which time it is expected to undergo evaluation.
